Christine and Gonzalo had a very intimate wedding with their closest family members there to share the day. They chose to have their wedding on Manitoulin Island. They had been vacationing at that spot for years and decided that was the perfect location to have their wedding. If you’ve never been to the Island you really must go. It is so beautiful there are so many beautiful lakes, waterfalls and trees. If you do go don’t just blindly trust your GPS. I will post a video of the crazy route that my GPS led me down LOL It started out as a gravel road not unusual for the area, but the further I got the more narrow the road got until finally it was simply a trail in the woods that I suspect was only used for hikers and 4 wheelers. At a certain point you have to just give in and trust that the GPS does indeed know the correct route because you are so far in that there is no turning back. There wasn’t even enough space to turn my van around if I had wanted to. Lol I would have had to reverse out for several kilometers. At one point near the trail ended in a fork in a clearing in the forest lol I just had to pic a direction and go for it. Check out the dash cam video guaranteed to make you not trust your GPS! Ha! Life is always an adventure when you are a location photographer in the North. I will let you know I did make it there on time, in fact about 20 minutes early. I asked the guests when I got to the location if there was a way to get there on paved roads and they all laughed and said of course how did you get here?
The ceremony was in the yard at the cottage overlooking the lake surrounded by trees. After the ceremony we went for a short walk down the street and found this amazing field and a group of large cedar trees. While we were doing the photos the sky darkened and we knew it was only a matter of time before the sky’s opened up. Christine and Gonzalo were troupers, we ended up finishing their session in a light drizzle, but it was starting to come down a little more steadily the long we were out. We managed to make it back to the tent just before the downpour started. It didn’t last long like most downpours, fast and furious. We managed to pop out in the light drizzle for the final photograph of them on the dock, which is one of my favourites from the day.
Chelsey and Jo had a sweet little courthouse wedding with their immediate family. I absolutely loved the little denim jacket that she wore over her short white dress. They were looking to have some outdoorsy photos for their formals and it had to have easy access for the grooms mum. I immediately knew where we had to go! This ticked all of their boxes and kept us on schedule. Sudbury is the best for finding wild looking places within the city. Everywhere you turn there is a lake or a forest. Look at this little slice of heaven 5 minutes from the restaurant they were going to for their first meal as a married couple.
Ariel and I hatched a plan to do an engagement session like the ones you see on all the wedding blogs. We decided a picnic on a beach would be fabulous and romantic. So we both agreed on meeting at Windy Lake Provincial park, the rain clouds were looming overhead. When we arrived we discovered that the park was closed for the season so we quickly came up with another plan, we were racing the storm. Without much of a thought I suggested a field near where I live. Sometimes those improvisations make the best photos.
We combined things we both had around our houses to style this session, heck the table I pulled out of my living room and took it with me LOL.
Cathy at Fleurs Magique was amazing enough to help us out with the beautiful flowers.
The rain clouds were making it darker and darker we had to work fast to set it up and shoot it before sunset. I enlisted the help of my husband Ron to help us set up and take it all down after. All 4 of us hustled our butts off to pull this off. The results were amazing!
I absolutely love getting the chance to collaborate on a couples session and make their dream Photographs come to life.
Annie and Kevin came to me to book a couples session. It was going to be an anniversary present from Kevin to Annie. He booked everything for her, hair, make up and then a party afterwards. I thought that it was such a sweet gift. As it turned out he decided to do it for her because she hadn’t liked any of there wedding photos. Everytime I hear someone say that they didn’t like their wedding photos it breaks my heart. Yet it is probably the thing I hear most often from people about their wedding. “It was great but I wish I had better photos”
I asked them if there was somewhere special to them somewhere that they had in mind for their photos. They immediately came to the conclusion that the Donovan was the place for them, so we ran with it!
I had so much fun with these guys, Annie’s sarcasm and Kevin’s self deprecating humour had us all in stitches for the entirety of the session. We found a little slice of nature in the city and then went on to fully utilize the cool feel of the Donvan.

The time is almost here and I’m getting so excited! If you’ve never been to CPC let me tell you it is a total gamechanger. It turned my business around after the first time I went. It’s totally business focussed with a big dash of inspiration. It is also a fabulous community to be a part of, so many supportive photographers all willing to talk and help each other out. You build lifelong friendships at these events. Im lucky enough to be speaking along side a group of amazingly talented photographers at this years Convention. Now i get to return the favour and hopefully help another photographer turn their business around or inspire them to keep growing their business. Here is a bit about my talk and I hope to see you there.

I love getting to photograph modern editorial style headshots, So when Tiffany was looking for to have headshots done for the Miss Northern Ontario Pageant I was excited to be creative and come up with some beautiful portraits that represent her beauty in a contemporary way.
These style shoots are great for actors, models and even for personal branding pictures for you to use on your website. Here are a few of my favorite Photos from that session.
This is Lynzy’s second child, I photographed the birth of her first born Lochlan his was the very first birth I had the pleasure of attending and Photographing. So when Lynzy found out she was pregnant again it was a given that she would have me document little Isla’s birth as well. Its always magical and awe inspiring to be there when a new baby enters the world. All at once 9 months of waiting comes to an end, All of the pain, sweat and tears of labour come to a crescendo of euphoria as a mother sees her baby for the first time. Birth is one of the most empowering things a woman can experience. Its a way of discovering things about your body and your mind you never thought possible.
Ariel and Brandon are such a goofy fun loving couple. They are so much fun to work with. Ariel has an infectious laugh and isn't afraid to be silly. Even though Brandon tries to resist her antics even he cracks and starts laughing along. We had a blast shooting this session, there were a ton of jokes and sarcastic remarks which is a perfect fit for my sense of humor.
Ariel used to be a competitive skater so she really wanted to incorporate winter and skating. We had a relatively strange winter the skate path was only open for a few weeks and we couldn't make that work so by the time we could schedule their engagement session it was a rainy day and we knew that this was spring this was going to be it. No more chance for snowy pictures. Little did we know we would still have snow in April! Because of the rain and the snow melting it created this ethereal thick fog that I was dying to shoot it. Here is Ariel and Brandon's Foggy outdoor winter engagement session.
