Christine & Gonzalo - Elopement - Manitoulin Island Wedding

Christine and Gonzalo had a very intimate wedding with their closest family members there to share the day. They chose to have their wedding on Manitoulin Island. They had been vacationing at that spot for years and decided that was the perfect location to have their wedding. If you’ve never been to the Island you really must go. It is so beautiful there are so many beautiful lakes, waterfalls and trees. If you do go don’t just blindly trust your GPS. I will post a video of the crazy route that my GPS led me down LOL  It started out as a gravel road not unusual for the area, but the further I got the more narrow the road got until finally it was simply a trail in the woods that I suspect was only used for hikers and 4 wheelers. At a certain point you have to just give in and trust that the GPS does indeed know the correct route because you are so far in that there is no turning back. There wasn’t even enough space to turn my van around if I had wanted to. Lol I would have had to reverse out for several kilometers. At one point near the trail ended in a fork in a clearing in the forest lol I just had to pic a direction and go for it. Check out the dash cam video guaranteed to make you not trust your GPS!  Ha! Life is always an adventure when you are a location photographer in the North. I will let you know I did make it there on time, in fact about 20 minutes early. I asked the guests when I got to the location if there was a way to get there on paved roads and they all laughed and said of course how did you get here?

The ceremony was in the yard at the cottage overlooking the lake surrounded by trees.  After the ceremony we went for a short walk down the street and found this amazing field and a group of large cedar trees.  While we were doing the photos the sky darkened and we knew it was only a matter of time before the sky’s opened up. Christine and Gonzalo were troupers, we ended up finishing their session in a light drizzle, but it was starting to come down a little more steadily the long we were out. We managed to make it back to the tent just before the downpour started.  It didn’t last long like most downpours, fast and furious.  We managed to pop out in the light drizzle for the final photograph of them on the dock, which is one of my favourites from the day.

Lagoon City Engagement Photography Session

I was given the opportunity to travel for this Engagement Photography Session. Sarah is a Nurse and Graham is a contractor and they share a love of Boating.  They keep their Boat, a Trojan as I am told by Graham in a lovely spot called Lagoon City just outside of Orilla.  We spent the day traveling around the area stopping to photograph in several different locations.  We even had lunch on the boat out by a small island in Lake Simcoe.  I had so much fun spending the day with these two.

Do you and your fiancé have a shared interest? Or just want to have something different from all of your friends Engagement Photos consider traveling to a cool location like the streets of downtown Toronto if you are from Sudbury or a hike or boat ride in the Muskoka’s if you’re from Toronto.  It can be like a date day for you and your partner and what a way to capture the experience! Have your photographer capture the day for you. It will make for great moments to be treasured for years to come.
